The easiest way is to ring or email me. Leave a message, if I am unavailable, and I will get back to you as soon as I can. This first step, and coming the first time, are the hardest but show that you are already on the way to making some important changes.
Therapy is a space for you to talk and be listened to with respect. Don't worry if you are not sure where to start. I can ask some questions to help us along the way initially.
No one will know you are seeking therapy unless you choose to tell them. I will respect your confidentiality at all times, unless there are reasons not to. These occur infrequently but would include if there was serious threat of harm, either to yourself or another person; if a child or a vulnerable person were at risk or if a serious crime had been committed.
On the rare occasions that I need to break confidentiality, I would seek, wherever possible, to discuss this with you first.
No problem is too small or too big if it is affecting your ability to enjoy life. I work with people from all walks of life and a huge variety of issues including: bereavement and loss, anxiety, depression; low mood, confidence, self-esteem, physical illness and disability, mental health issues, family or relationship, decision-making, insomnia and sleep problems, sexuality issues, gender issues, eating and weight issues, stress, trauma, sexual abuse and rape, anger, addictions, work problems, any life change that is affecting you, post traumatic stress disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic and agoraphobia.
In my experience, therapy works best if you attend weekly or fortnightly, but we can discuss this at your first appointment.
